The
above animation is a collection of shots from the Worcester cam,
located in Worceter, Massachusetts, through the four seasons of
a single year. I was born and spent the first 18 years of life in
Worcester, before moving to California.
Growing
up, I must have travelled this one block stretch of Main Street
in front of city hall several thousand times. Now, only the echo
of those footfalls remain as memory--but the Internet has gathered
my nostalgia for a long forgotten place and shaped it into a virtual
city I can visit every day in near real-time.
Included
in this animation are several images of a mob gathering at the gates
of city hall, perhaps in protest or to riot. In fact, this is a
celebration rally following the Red Sox win of the World Series.
The
Worcester cam is provided by the Worcester Telegram and looks out
from their offices on Franklin Street. Click
